Standing inside Blender Theater watching Reverend Horton Heat perform a blistering set of originals along with classic covers was an experience that makes you forget daily life.
Reverend Horton Heat came out with all guns blazing, opening their set with Big Sky. Big Sky lead into Baddest of the Bad. Anyone who wishes to know what the Rockabilly/Psychobilly movement is all about just needs to listen to those two songs. Baddest of the Bad will turn many of harder edge songs into a pile of mush.
Rev. Horton Heat was everything billed plus much more. Jim Heaths dirty sounding voice along with his classic Gretsch tone made a lethal combination. Jimbo Wallace thumping on his upright felt like getting hit in the chest with a hammer over and over. Jimbo has great technique and is a better showman. You add Paul Simmons killer drumming to the equation and you can see why Rev. Horton Heat is at the forefront of the Rockabilly/Psychobilly movement.
Some of the crowd favorites were covers of great classic hits that spaned musical genres. Rev. Horton Heat did a very interesting version of Black Sabbaths Paranoid. Their version of Paranoid showcased Paul Simmons on vocals. Another classic hit that was covered was Motorheads Ace of Spades. On this song they invited out Nashville Pussy lead singer Blaine Cartwright. I have personally seen Ace of Spades covered by countless bands over the years. This version was simply one of the best.
Closing out the show Rev. Horton Heat played Marijuana which showcased Jim Heaths Rockabilly guitar playing. It was fun to experience his huge wall of sound coming out of a little Fender combo amp. The show ended with probably Rev. Horton Heat most popular tune Big Red Rocket of Love.
This was a great show. If you get a chance to catch Rev. Horton Heat live, do so. Definitely one of the best live bands out there.

The New York Yankees traded Wilson “No bat hack” Betemit to the Chicago White Sox for Nick Swisher. The Yankees also sent along two lesser known pitchers and will receive minor league pitcher Kanekoa Texeira in return.
This is a very good trade from the Yankees standpoint. Betemit had to go. He has delivered nothing but a warm seat on the bench the last two seasons. Nick Swisher is a good hard nose player that can play first base and all three outfield positions. Swisher had an anemic .219 batting average last season to go along with 24 home runs. I think that was just an aberration and the fact that he was playing for Ozzie “Potty Mouth” Guillen. The two did not have a good working relationship. Surprise Surprise. I like this trade, Swisher will deliver. This move reminds me of the Scott Brosius trade in ’98.
Can there be more trades on the way? The Yankees now have six outfielders. Will we be saying goobye to Damon, Cabrera or Gardner? Stay tuned. Oh, and what impact if any does this have on Scott Boras and Mark Texeira? We shall soon find out.

So after his huge meltdown on election day, it turns out that Tim Robbins went to the wrong polling site. That’s correct, Mr. Never Shut Up know it all Mets fan went to the wrong place. Brilliant.
What is more surprising to me is the fact that Big Mouth Robbins has not voted in any recent election! Had he voted in a recent election, he would have known the correct polling site to go to. This guy never shuts up, and yet he has not voted in the last four years?
Wow, great going Mr.Robbins. I sure hope you somehow find the volunteers and apologize to them. Great lesson you taught your kids. Crash Davis must be so disapointed in you Nuke.
